North Wins CRN Tech Impact Award for Sustainable Customer Project of the Year

We’re delighted to announce that North has won the prestigious CRN Tech Impact Award for Sustainable Customer Project of the Year.

In its second year, the CRN Tech Impact Awards honour, celebrate and highlight companies who are leading the way in environmental and social impact, and in their technology, solutions, and services.

The Sustainable Customer Project of the Year award was awarded for the citywide IoT-based Intelligent Lighting solution delivered for Aberdeen City Council.

Aberdeen City Council wanted to explore innovative uses of Internet of Things (IoT) technology to improve aspects of city life for citizens and businesses and to deliver economic benefits. North worked with Aberdeen City Council to provide them with a city-wide LoRaWAN IoT network and Intelligent Lighting solution to manage and maintain over 37000 units.

North’s solution helps reduce light pollution by allowing the dimming of bright LEDs to ensure ambient lighting during quiet periods or at low light levels. Enhanced functionality such as the custom dimming profiles, will offer more efficient maintenance and usage-based billing and will bring significant cost and sustainability savings for Aberdeen City Council

Aberdeen selected intelligent lighting as the anchor IoT project as the resulting IoT network covers the city and will be used to support a range of other city-based IoT initiatives and solutions including waste management and flood monitoring

Commenting on the award, Sam Tovey, Sustainability and Social Value Specialist at North said:
