North has been named a finalist in the Sustainability category at the prestigious AbilityNet Tech4Good Awards, recognising our commitment to leveraging digital technology for environmental sustainability.
The nomination recognises the Smart Waste Management solution delivered by North for the City of Edinburgh Council as part of their Smart City Operations Centre, which is transforming and enhancing city management and the citizen experience by utilising data captured through a range of emerging technologies to drive transformational and environmental change.
Driven by CGI’s industry-leading Smart City Platform, North was selected by IT and business consulting firm, CGI to provide 11,000 Smart Waste sensors throughout the city and to provide connectivity for the smart waste management solution through IoT Scotland, the UK’s most advanced Internet of Things (IoT) network.
