North helps raise £23,758 for RNLI Through Tour de BT 2024

A total of £23,758 was raised during the 2024 Tour de BT, a charity cycling event that supported the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). North was one of the main sponsors for the second consecutive year. The event brought together participants from North’s Defence and Justice team, BT Group, Bluelight Cycling Club, and Empowered SMS. The three-day challenge, held from 10 September, saw riders cycling 300 kilometres with 3,000 metres of climbs in support of the RNLI, a charity that has been saving lives at sea for over 200 years.

The funds raised will contribute directly to the RNLI’s life-saving efforts, enabling the charity to continue its vital work along the UK’s coastlines. The RNLI relies on donations to carry out its mission, and this substantial contribution will support its ongoing work to ensure safety at sea across the UK.

The event not only showcased the enthusiasm and determination of the riders, but also highlighted the ongoing importance of corporate social responsibility, with North and Empowered SMS stepping up as key sponsors.

Despite unpredictable weather, the riders embraced the challenge. Their determination was evident throughout the event, helping to make it a resounding success.

North’s involvement in the Tour de BT 2024 further underscores the company's commitment to community support and RNLI fundraising, as well as their dedication to charity events that promote both physical challenge and charitable giving. The enthusiasm and commitment of all involved underscore North’s dedication to supporting the Armed Forces community and promoting life-saving initiatives like those led by the RNLI.

Richard Green, Managing Director, Defence and Justice at North said, "We're so pleased to have been a part of this amazing event. Seeing the total hit over £23,000 is just incredible. Massive admiration to all the riders – their commitment and hard work made this possible. It’s so inspiring to see everyone push through for such a great cause. Huge thanks to everyone involved.

Over the past year, we’ve had the privilege of working with BT to deliver network and Wi-Fi to many lifeboat stations, ensuring RNLI crews have the tools and connectivity they need to carry out their lifesaving missions. We’re proud to support such an amazing organisation and to play a small part in helping them continue their critical work."
