North has delivered an integrated and future-proofed Public Space CCTV control centre to help Falkirk Council achieve its digital transformation vision to integrate and centralise all security and monitoring systems.

The £1m investment which formed part of the Council’s Council of the Future CCTV project, saw all Public Space CCTV technology upgraded and the introduction of intelligent video management software. Enabling all security technology and systems to be controlled from one centralised location, helping the Council to streamline services and improve safety for citizens, while reducing operational costs.

North has extensive experience in delivering fully integrated, scalable and intelligent Public Space CCTV and surveillance systems that are designed, installed and supported to create safer, more secure environments for citizens and visitors.

The new CCTV control centre will be relocated to the Foundry, the Council’s modern office space, which opened at the end of last year.

To further boost safety and security in local communities, North has also provided the Council with state-of-the-art mobile CCTV technology that will be used to deter crime and anti-social behaviour and will in future be used to:

  • Support traffic management by providing real-time updates on traffic congestion via social media
  • Increase public safety at major events, from festivals to football matches
  • Enhance tourism by beaming live images of famous local landmarks such as the Kelpies worldwide
Unlike conventional mobile cameras, the solution deployed enables the mobile devices to be fully integrated into the CCTV control centre, enabling seamless viewing between fixed camera locations and the mobile units.

Councillor Cecil Meiklejohn, Leader of Falkirk Council, commented that she had been "impressed" by the speed at which the cameras solution had been rolled out.

“This is a great example of what can be achieved when we work with our partners to deliver digital transformation at pace. By making this investment in the CCTV service, we continue to support the police in the fight against crime and make our position clear - we will not tolerate anti-social behaviour.”

Julie Hutchison, Business Development Manager at North commented:

“We were delighted to secure this fantastic contract and to partner with Falkirk Council to deliver this significant upgrade that will not only revolutionise the use of CCTV across the Falkirk area, but will help the Council to advance their digital transformation journey”.
