Wi-Fi solutions for social and economic challenges

Tackling poverty, improving digital inclusion, regenerating town centres, increasing employment and stimulating the local economy are key challenges for Renfrewshire Council. And, together with local partners, the council has also recognised the importance of Wi-Fi connectivity in addressing all these issues.

The solution lay with North. We secured a multi-million pound public sector framework agreement with the council and key stakeholders then designed and delivered an extensive infrastructure to provide free public Wi-Fi to the town centres of Paisley, Johnstone and Renfrew, as well as other public buildings across the region. We also enabled the temporary provision of Wi-Fi for major outdoor and indoor events.

The framework contract brought Renfrewshire Council together with Renfrewshire Leisure, the University of West of Scotland, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and West College Scotland. Working closely with these partners, we designed and delivered a secure, fully managed wireless solution. High performing and scalable, it’s capable of extending into additional public spaces, as and when required, to deliver a seamless user experience.

North now remotely monitors the network to provide effective end-user support, ensuring 24/7 connectivity and the delivery of speedy incident resolution.
