Delivering a critical project during lockdown
Urgent refurbishment work at the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham (LBH&F) meant it had to relocate its CCTV control room in just 8 weeks. But there was an added complication – the project coincided with the COVID-19 lockdown.
Maintaining CCTV coverage for the safety of its residents and businesses was of paramount importance to the borough – the LBH&F control room monitors more than 1,900 CCTV cameras. And, despite the logistical challenges of operating during pandemic restrictions, North had the experience and expertise to ensure that they delivered a fully functional command and control room..
North set up an experienced cross-country team to deliver the project. Strong collaboration with LBH&F and our team’s dedication and flexibility saw us meet the demanding schedule, and tight budget. A new videowall comprising eight 50-inch monitors, and a complete CISCO network architecture, was deployed quickly to minimise any delays.
The new control room we created enables multiple departments across LBH&F to collaborate across the public space CCTV and operate a shared service with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, creating better joined-up situational awareness across the two boroughs. Further work is now underway to relocate the councils comms rooms and on-site data centre that will provision the estate for a full technology refresh.
