The partnership brings together North’s expertise in IoT-powered infrastructure and integrated building systems with SmartViz’s AI-powered building analytics platform, empowering universities with a real-time digital twin of how people use their buildings and campuses. The joint solution is designed to help institutions maximise space utilisation, reduce operational costs and accelerate progress towards sustainability targets.

By connecting data from IoT sensors, building systems and security infrastructure, the solution provides a unified view of estate performance. This allows universities to better understand occupancy patterns, align energy usage with demand, and make faster, more informed decisions across estates and sustainability functions.

North will design, deploy and manage the integrated technology environment, ensuring that insights generated by the SmartViz platform can be effectively translated into real-world cost savings and operational improvements. This end-to-end capability enables universities to move from insight to action – optimising campus performance in real time while improving the experience for students and staff.

SmartViz has an established presence in the higher education sector, with customers including the University of Oxford and other leading UK institutions. Its platform uses AI and advanced analytics to transform occupancy and environmental data into actionable insights that boost space utilisation and reduce energy consumption.
